Tyco unveils new system

Tyco Fire Suppression & Building Products has unveiled its new ANSUL AQUASONIC fire suppression system that is aimed at Class B fires that involve flammable liquids such as petrol, diesel, solvents, lubricants and spirits.  It is being heralded as an advanced water-atomising system that quickly and efficiently suppresses fires while discharging a minimal amount of water; a solution that is safe for people and the environment.  The new system utilises non-toxic and readily available extinguishing media – water and nitrogen.

AQUASONIC is specifically engineered to cover a wide spectrum of special-hazard industrial and commercial applications in defined-area protected spaces.  These include flammable liquid stores, insulated and non-insulated combustion turbine enclosures, machinery areas, pump rooms, generators, transformer vaults, gear boxes and oil pumps and tanks.

The key to the effectiveness of the system is the patented AQUASONIC atomizer nozzle.  It uses what is described as supersonic technology to break down water particles into trillions of smaller droplets that are uniform in size.  As these droplets reach their target they extract heat from the fire and suppress it.
