Siemens restructures business
Engineering and technology expert Siemens has announced a strategic restructure of its Building Technologies (BT) division in the UK which has created a dedicated Products and Systems business unit that will incorporate all Siemens, Crabtree, Wylex and Volex branded products and systems for the buildings market.
As part of the restructure Barry Glew (currently Managing Director of Siemens’ Electrium business) will undertake an expanded role. In addition to his current responsibilities, Barry will assume overall management control for the company’s Low Voltage (including switchboards, busbars, distribution board systems, wiring accessories and wall mounted control devices) and Control Products & Systems (including building automation and comfort, lighting controls and fire safety products) portfolios, formalising the close collaboration that currently exists.
Barry Glew, Managing Director, BT Products and Systems, commented: “With stringent carbon reduction targets to meet UK-wide, creating energy-efficient homes, offices and public facilities continues to be key.
“There is no doubt that Siemens has an exceptional green-focused product portfolio within the building technologies sector and this restructure makes absolute sense as we group these products and systems together to create an unrivalled offering and maximise the synergies that exist.”
He concluded: “Driving penetration of these products and systems across the building market will not only help our customers and partners to easily obtain access to the large portfolio of low voltage products that Siemens offers but will also help the UK meet its energy reduction targets.”
