Advance metal halide lamps from Venture Lighting have been used throughout the car parks at the prestigious Bluewater Shopping Centre in Dartford, Kent, during the recent re-lamping of the car parks. Housed in specially designed and manufactured luminaires from DW Windsor, the lamps have been used to replace the original Venture lamps that were installed in 2001 when the shopping centre opened its doors.
Within its first 12 months of trading, Bluewater changed the face of retailing in the UK and became the benchmark for quality British retailing, winning a multitude of international awards including a Millennium Product mark. Extensive consumer research resulted in a triangular design to make shopping easier, with a department store at each corner- John Lewis , Marks & Spencer and House of Fraser – connected by three distinct shopping malls, with retailers grouped together to appeal to different customers. Bluewater has successfully combined retail and leisure to offer a day out destination.
Mounted at 4 and 5 metre heights, the luminaires utilise Venture’s UVS shrouded 100W and 150W Whitelux lamps to provide asymmetric light distribution with no upward light spillage. This allows the car parks to be lit from the ideal centreline position.  Whitelux lamps were specified for their ability to meet the exacting design criteria for the project, providing long life with high colour stability and excellent colour rendering.
