Gary Shepherd took top place at the recent Scottish HVACR Awards for Outstanding Achievement.
Gary, who is employed by James Ramsay (Glasgow), was named both Pipe Fitter/Welder of the Year and overall Craft Apprentice of the Year.
Other 2005 award winners were as follows.
• Pipe Fitter/Welder of the Year runner up: John Aitken (ECG Group and North Glasgow College).
• Pipe Fitter of the Year: Graeme Brankin (Scan Building Services and Telford College, Edinburgh); runner-up: Gary Scott (Richard Irvin Building Services and Tullos Training).
• Service and Maintenance Apprentice of the Year: Kenneth McDonald (Alfred McAlpine Business Services and North Glasgow College); runner-up: Paul Kane (Wm Whitfield and North Glasgow College).
• Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Apprentice of the Year: Jonathan Robb (Specific Heat, Telford College and North Glasgow College); runner-up: Michael Knight (Arthur Mackay, Telford College and North Glasgow College).
• Ductwork Apprentice of the Year: Joe Caldwell (Johnson Ventilation and North Glasgow College); runner-up: Steven Menelaws (Galloway Group and North Glasgow College).
• Building Services Technician of the Year: Robbie Nelson (N G Bailey and Telford College); runner up: Gareth Lusk (RMJM and Telford College).
Guest of honour at the awards ceremony was Marilyn Livingstone MSP, convenor of the Cross Party Group for Construction in the Scottish Parliament.
