The Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) is now inviting entries for the CIBSE ASHRAE Young Engineers’ Awards 2013. Building services engineers, who have recently graduated, and employers of graduates both have categories to enter in the awards and entries need to be received by 31 July 2013.

The CIBSE ASHRAE Graduate of the Year Award is open to building services engineers who have graduated in the past two years, and the winner will attend the ASHRAE Winter Conference 2014 in New York.

Those shortlisted get the chance to present their ideas at the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), London on 9 October 2013 where the judging panel will choose the Young Graduate of the Year, and the Employer of the Year will be announced.  The prestigious judging panel at the event includes the Presidents of ASHRAE, CIBSE and the IMechE along with the 2012 Graduate of the Year, Lee Tabis.

The CIBSE Employer of the Year Award, with an overall first prize of £1,000 of training vouchers, recognises those companies – large, medium and small – which proactively champion building performance excellence, whether through a commitment to young people in employment or by supporting those employees through education.  The Employer of the Year Award champions employers who are helping support building services engineering as a career.

With a predicted shortage of engineering talent, it is increasingly important to recognise and reward emerging talent in the field of building services engineering, as well as support those organisations that help young engineers to develop their skills and expertise.

The CIBSE ASHRAE Graduate of the Year Award is now in its 18th Year, and the CIBSE Employer of the Year awards was founded by the CIBSE Young Engineers’ Network. Both Awards are supported by four of the world’s most important building services engineering professional institutions: CIBSE; ASHRAE; the IMechE; and the Institute of Refrigeration.Â
