Plug ‘n’ play cuts costs

Protec is further simplifying the installation procedure of sophisticated fire detection and alarm systems by introducing the first plug ‘n’ play wiring system for their interactive digital addressable fire detection & alarm system.

Protec’s semi-recessed fast fix sensor bases, launched earlier in the autumn, have already made it possible for a sensor to be connected and commissioned prior to the installation of a false ceiling. This latest innovation now makes the wiring of loop devices a simple matter as well, just requiring them to be plugged in, using a pre-terminated cable. The cables are available in a range of standard finished lengths complete with factory fitted moulded plug, which is simply inserted into each device to create the panel’s cabling loop.

This cost effective innovation means that installers can save valuable time, and therefore money, on site even allowing them to catch up, when their own work is delayed by other onsite contractors falling behind schedule. Importantly, these savings are typically made while working in higher risk locations, like at height on scaffold towers installing loop-powered devices.
