Levolux is the driving force behind sustainability at Volvo’s Maidstone dealership, Lipscomb Motors, with an innovative and sustainable timber Fin Solar Shading system.
The architect, Bisset Adams, required a solution that fitted perfectly with the bold Scandinavian image it had developed for Volvo dealerships across the country. Levolux responded by designing and manufacturing a bespoke system using the African hardwood Idigbo, as specified by the architect on the basis of the material’s environmental credentials.
All timber used for Levolux’s systems comes from a sustainable source and so, combined with its market beating efficiency, the company was the ideal choice for the Kent project.
Architect, Bisset Adams stated: “We were delighted with the service from Levolux and their high standard of installation. Their system fits perfectly with the design we have built up over the years for Volvo.”
The new Volvo showroom – an attractive, highly design orientated structure with two large glass wall elevations, required 12 panels, each incorporating up to 20 individual Fins. Ten panels, measuring 2.9 metres wide by 3.2 metres high, were fitted to the two showroom elevations, with a further two smaller panels installed onto a set-back area between the elevations.
Thanks to the Levolux timber Solar Shading Fins, the Lipscomb Motors showroom provides a cool, comfortable environment and a stunning backdrop for Volvo to display their vehicles, for customers to visit and for staff to work.
The Levolux Solar Shading system works by reducing solar heat gain, thereby reducing the need for air-conditioning. This has helped Volvo to reduce their operating costs, save energy and cut their CO2 emissions.
