Legrand will be a permanent support act at Liverpool’s newest concert venue after supplying a comprehensive cable management system for use throughout the multi-million pound Kings Waterfront development.
Designed by award-winning architects, Wilkinson Eyre, the Arena and Convention Centre Liverpool (ACC Liverpool) is being built in time for the city’s European Capital of Culture celebrations in 2008. It comprises a 10,600 capacity arena and an adjoining convention centre with a 1,350-seat auditorium, a multi-purpose hall of 3,725 m² and a further 18 meeting rooms – all of which combines to give a total exhibition space of 7,000m².  Building work is managed by Bovis Lend Lease and the venue will be opened with a spectacular event on 12 January 2008 to celebrate the start of Liverpool’s year as European Capital of Culture. Roger Sharples of electrical contractor Haden Young commented: “ACC Liverpool is the jewel in the crown of Liverpool’s Capital of Culture celebrations and, due to its prominent location on the banks of the Mersey, will be seen and enjoyed by millions during 2008 and beyond. “As such we have had to ensure we dealt with, and specified from the very best suppliers and when it comes to cable management, Legrand stands out as the market leader. The company provides the most comprehensive range of solutions available in the UK and so it was no surprise they were the only ones able to meet our needs for a system comprising ladder, tray, trunking and specially reinforced floor units.”  Once complete, over 7km of hot-dipped galvanised tray and 5km of lighting and multiple compartment power trunking will have been installed in ACC Liverpool. In addition, a range of ladder has also been supplied, while Legrand’s standard floorboxes were specifically redesigned to include a reinforced flush floor unit that is able to accept specialist floor covering in the public gallery.
