It is estimated that around 11 million people are living in unsafe properties in the UK. Replacing unsuitable cladding or installing effective fire alarms into existing premises can be costly, but recently KEIM Mineral Paints have confirmed that their products conform to the most rigorous fire safety standards (A2-s1, d0 according to EN 13501-1).  This now gives architects, housing associations, and commercial building owners a cost effective, eco-friendly, incombustible alternative.

KEIM explained, ‘We have seen a significant increase in the number of enquiries we’ve received. Until recently it’s been the breathabilityand durabilityof our paints that have seen them being chosen across high-rise to heritage projects. Now though the emphasis is on fire safety, with contractors, architects alike specifying KEIM for refurbishments and new builds.’

Not just for high-rise blocks, currently the UK Standard stipulates buildings of 18 metres or higher, but all manner of structures, houses, flats, hotels, could reduce the risk of fires spreading by using KEIM.
