The stunning, newly opened Radisson Edwardian New Providence hotel, situated at the heart of Canary Wharf, has been brought to life with Helvar lighting control.
With its riverside location and views across the City, the hotel’s interior was designed to reflect the surroundings and a light and refreshing atmosphere has been created throughout.  A comprehensive installation, Helvar’s Imagine lighting control system has been employed in each of the hotel’s bars and restaurants, enhancing the inviting environment in the public spaces, as well as setting the scene in the hotel’s business centre and spa areas.
Capable of supporting up to 40 input devices and 252 channels of dimming, switching or ballast control, Helvar’s Imagine router is at the heart of the system and allows for versatile and effective commercial lighting control.  Connected to 150 channels of rack mounted dimmers, the end result is over a thousand lighting scenes available at the touch of a button.
The Helvar control system was specified by lighting consultants DHA Designs and, as lighting designer Peter Fordham explains, a router with expansive capabilities was vital:  “There was a need for continuous lighting control in many different areas and the Imagine system is ideal for this type of multi-purpose application.  We needed to provide ambient lighting in the restaurant and bar, as well as intelligent control of the business and conferencing facilities.
“Energy saving is a top priority and alongside control through presence detection, the Imagine router’s in-built scheduling system allows for pre-programmed lighting levels, depending on the time of day – less unnecessary lighting, leading to a reduction in both energy costs and the size of carbon footprint.”
Both DMX in and out capable, the Imagine router can support 10/100 Mbit/s Ethernet connection using TCP/IP protocol, each router having a unique IP address.  With the possibility to network up to 16 routers in a single workgroup and through the use of Helvar Workshop application software, up to 4,000 dimming channels and 5,000 scenes are achievable.
