Energy efficiency was one of the key criteria when it came to specifying products for One London Square, the 55,000sq ft office space in Guildford, Surrey, which has undergone a complete refurbishment and features a wide selection of Concord and Lumiance luminaires.

The four-story, glass-roofed office building cost £5 million to renovate and was designed and project managed by Triglyph Property Consultants and carried out by contractor Overbury. A BREEAM rating of Excellent has been given to the building, which has been refurbished using recycled and energy efficient materials where possible.

The upgrade took in every area of the building, including the impressive communal atrium and reception, along with high quality toilet and shower facilities. Specified by building services consultants, Chapman Bathurst, Havells-Sylvania products have been used throughout the building.

High efficiency

The most notable inclusion is the installation of the Concord Officelyte Concave Linear Low profile within the open-plan office space. Specifically designed for office lighting applications, the luminaire achieves a Light Output Ratio of 90% and (at One London Square) the luminaire is averaging 400 lux at under 6W/sq m.

Concord’s LED 150 luminaires have been used for the perimeter areas of the office space and the reception areas of the building. The LED 50 is a highly efficient and economic replacement for CFL downlights and perfect for office buildings, such as One London Square, which has a requirement for decorative lighting.

Featured within the lift lobbies and toilets, Concord’s Myriad LED offers an extremely efficient light source with far superior luminous flux per watt than low voltage halogen. The Lumiance Lumistrip has also been used in the toilets to provide decorative lighting and the Concord Cassini has been installed in the stairwells.

One London Square also includes new glazing, air conditioning, and a security card access system to the main entrance. To future proof for multi tenanted occupancy, containment for access control to individual floors has been provided.
