Armstrong has published a concise energy saving guide which helps engineers to drive down costs when they refurbish or upgrade ageing systems. The free eight page booklet has been written by engineers from Armstrong’s after-sales team and runs through the key energy saving opportunities presented by today’s technology.
To match the opportunity to the cash available for the project, the guide looks at a number of different fixes with varying paybacks. For example scenarios range from simply replacing a belt driven pump with a close-coupled alternative (a solution which requires no pipe changes and can save for example £864 per year), right up to changing the pump completely and installing a new high efficiency unit (which requires pipe changes but offers savings of £3,760 per annum).
Each scenario is outlined in detail, suggesting the types of existing system it might be suitable for (naming the specific legacy Pullen, Baric and Holden and Brooke models) and explaining what would be involved in terms of pipe changes. The results are clearly stated, with pump curves and other charts for further clarification, and an estimated saving is given based on an example duty.
