CIBSE mark of approval for CPD
Hamworthy’s latest Continuing Professional Development (CPD) seminar has gained accreditation from CIBSE, endorsing the course and its content to benefit the building services engineer professionally and enabling it to count towards a CIBSE member’s annual CPD hours.
Continuing Professional Development is about learning and putting into practice new competences year after year. CIBSE members are required by the Code of Professional Conduct to maintain their professional competence throughout their career, which can be achieved in a number of ways; not simply limited to courses and seminars.
Recognising the need for building services engineers to keep abreast with new developments and the anticipated high demand for the refurbishment and improved energy efficiency of commercial buildings faced by the industry, Hamworthy compiled their CPD course ‘Best Practice Heating & Hot Water Plant Refurbishment’. As well as addressing these issues the CPD offers content of real value that can be taken away and used in the field.
Reflecting Hamworthy’s extensive knowledge of the heating and hot water industry the content of the seminar encompasses what to identify when reviewing current heating and hot water plant, how to recognise the existing solution, establish how well it has performed and determine the criteria for change.
In greater depth the CPD explores best practice in refurbishment projects including how to meet green targets and carbon reduction, gain return on investment, complete energy saving calculations and how best to achieve speed on site minimising any potential downtime.
The seminar sets out the importance of a thorough plant room site survey and the best ways to execute this to ensure a structured approach that creates a record of all information taking into account broader factors such as the building usage, occupancy and any other objectives associated with refurbishment projects.
At the end of the course attendees will receive a site survey pack with the tools to enable the theory to be put into practice, as well as a certificate of attendance and learning outcome sheet allowing the recipient to self assess what they have learnt, a vital element for the attendee to keep and refer back to.
Stuart Turner, regional sales manager at Hamworthy delivers the CPD course and commented, “We fully support the notion of continuing professional development, not just for CIBSE members but any professional in their relevant field. Legislation, industry best practice and technological advancements move at such a fast pace these days it can be difficult to keep up to speed with the developments on top of the demands of your day job.
With this in mind we prepared the CPD seminar as a thorough but concise course that can be delivered in two hours anywhere across the UK; either at a customer’s premises or an external site.”
To gain accreditation from CIBSE, courses have to go through a strict judging panel who review the content for technical and professional relevance, as well as consistency of delivery and added value to the learner.
Hamworthy’s CPD seminars are delivered free of charge by highly experienced HVAC professionals. For more information and to book a course; telephone 0845 450 2865, email firstname.lastname@example.org, or visit www.hamworthy-heating.com.
