The Carbon Trust has called for trade organisations to apply for the next wave of Networks funding, with funding bands of up to £30,000 or £140,000 on offer for those organisations keen to take action on climate change. To apply for the funding, applicants are required to produce a detailed plan outlining how their initiative will deliver demonstrable carbon dioxide emissions savings, by 9 January 2008.
The Networks Initiative supports groups that want to highlight the cost of wasted energy and carbon emissions. The funding also backs the development of specific technical guidance and toolkits, designed to help industries manage their carbon reduction measures and overall energy use more effectively. Proposals will be judged on their merits in terms of their ability to deliver cost -effective carbon emission reduction.
Reflecting on success to date the Carbon Trust praised fifteen pioneering trade organisations, including the Institute of Hospitality, the UK social investment forum and the Airport Operators Association, for achievements in the promotion of energy efficiency, through initiatives funded by the inaugural phase of the Carbon Trust Networks programme.

Previous funding from the Carbon Trust Networks Initiative has enabled a wide range of trade organisations including the NMI (National Microelectronic Institute), FDF (Food and Drink Federation), the BCAS (British Compressed Air Society) and the British Property Federation (BPF) to engage with and galvanise action from members.
