New from Kamco are Easicult dipslides, designed for routine monitoring of microbes, and to give an easy way to determine the total bacterial count in cooling system water and industrial fluids without having to send samples to a fully equipped laboratory.
It is necessary to regularly check water for bacterial activity as cooling towers, evaporative condensers, and hot and cold water systems can present a risk of exposure to legionella bacteria.
Whilst they do not specifically indicate the presence of Legionella bacteria, Easicult indicates trends in microbiological activity and the overall cleanliness of the system. Such information is vital to check if the current treatment is effective, or if remedial action should be taken.
Easicult dipslides are simply immersed in the liquid for a few seconds, returned to the supplied see-through container, and then stored for 24 hours in a warm place at a temperature between 25-30°C.
During this time, bacteria present will grow as colonies, seen as red clusters on the dipslide agar.
