Hoval has launched an upgraded version of its STU range of UK-manufactured wood pellet boiler, with a ‘plug and play’ skid mounted configuration incorporating the fully wired and factory tested PLC based FlameTronix®  touch screen control system.

The FlameTronix® control system ensures optimal wood pellet combustion resulting in ‘best in class’ efficiencies of 92% as well as ‘best in class’ particulate emissions.  Independent tests, carried out in April 2012, confirm that the boiler achieved less than 5 mg/MJ particulate emission without the need for any additional particulate abatement system. The FlameTronix® control system is web-linked for remote monitoring and is designed with ease-of-use in mind for the boiler room end-user.  The on-board controls are also compatible with commonly used building management system protocols

This new design places great emphasis on ease of installation and quick and easy on-site commissioning. By using a standardised skid mounted design that includes pumps, fans and fuel delivery augers it is ensured that site commissioning time is cut to a minimum and that plant footprint is minimised and known at time of design. Also featured as standard in the new version are variable speed drive controls on all auger screws as well as automatic ignition and automatic furnace de-ashing

STU boilers are available in outputs ranging from 150 kW up to 975 kW. They are backed by a comprehensive fuel storage, buffer vessel design and installation service. The STU boiler is manufactured in the UK at Hoval’s Newark-on-Trent site. At this site Hoval has a STU195 training boiler as a demonstrator model as well as a fully functioning STU600 boiler heating the boiler factory space. The STU range meets all known and future known Renewable Heat Incentive requirements.
