Andromeda has commenced work at the O² Dublin, North Wall Quay, a state of the art Live Nation entertainment venue which is due to open in December.
The project sees a rejuvenation of Ireland’s premiere music venue The Point, which hosted the Eurovision Song Contest, the debut of Riverdance, and the MTV Europe Music Awards as well as a long list of high-profile tours. The character of the old building will be preserved and incorporated with modern features, and the capacity is set to rise from 8500 to 13000.
Andromeda was awarded the project by Mercury Engineering and will be working alongside consultants Faber Maunsell. The integrated control solution will feature constant light control with presence detection, astronomical time clock functionality, colour-change sequencing on the façade, and DALI emergency testing.
Graham Boaler, Project Director at Andromeda said: “This is a ground-breaking project for the company, as it represents both our first presence in Ireland and our first installation in a music venue environment. It is a fantastic opportunity to be involved in developing an iconic landmark and to offer our cutting-edge control system to do it justice”.
