AMEC has been awarded a multi-million pound contract by rail operator Union Railways North to provide the mechanical electrical and piped services for the new Network Rail Thameslink line station beneath St Pancras in central London.
Starting immediately, AMEC will carry out the design, procurement, installation, commissioning and integration of the mechanical, electrical and specialist services for the new facility. Work will take place alongside the existing railway and will require careful phasing to ensure that current rail operations are unaffected, together with rigorous health and safety management.

The new station, whose main structure has already been built underneath the recently renovated St Pancras Network Rail station, will be a vital connection between the Channel Tunnel Rail Link and the rail network.

“This is a challenging fast-track project in a busy operational environment that demands the best design and delivery skills that our industry can provide,” said Steve Lee, Managing Director of AMEC’s industrial division. “It reinforces our commitment to helping maintain the capital’s transport infrastructure and follows successful rail projects in the region, such as Union Railways’ new Temple Mills depot and ongoing work for Network Rail, Docklands Light Railway, Tubelines, Metronet and South Central.”
