HVCA Publications has launched an updated and extended H&V Safety Guide and Fact Book. Worksafe – Guide to Site Safety and the complementary Safety Facts booklet have both been written with significant input from HVCA’s Joint Safety Committee and will be essential preventative tools in the building services industry and specialist engineering sector.
Worksafe – Guide to Site Safety and Safety Facts have been expanded to include information to help the reader comply with the latest health and safety legislation, as well as pass the SKILLcard/CITB-ConstructionSkills Health and Safety Test for the construction industry.

The Guide presents crucial information in 18 parts. It begins by identifying key safety signs and signals, emergency procedures and first aid. It also steers the reader through fire prevention and control and gives advice on lifting and carrying.

The Safety Facts booklet complements the Guide perfectly and is ideal as a quick reference for answering vital safety questions. The Safety Facts booklet includes 32 key fact sheets that are cross-referenced with Worksafe – Guide, giving the reader lists and points to consider when dealing with a situation, hazard or condition.

Introducing both publications, Bill Belshaw, Chairman of the HVCA’s Joint Safety Committee, said: “Although it is 37 years since its first appearance, the Guide and new booklet still contain the proven principles of site safety from the previous issues. However, there is now specific health and safety information for supervisors and managers, so that they can make sure that work is safe and without risk to the health of those doing it.”
