Toshiba Air Conditioning has supplied six Split systems to the new Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technical Training Courses facility at Dudley College for use in the training of students.

The new £125k centre has been created from a former welding area on the College’s Mons Hill Campus. The centre was recently opened by the Labour Member of Parliament for Dudley North, Ian Austin, and the College’s Principal, Jeanne Harding. Toshiba Carrier UK Business Development Manager David Dunn also attended, saying: “This is another signal that our company puts the highest possible emphasis on training.”

“Thirty students are already on the programme, and we didn’t even have to advertise it,” explained Head of Division at Dudley College Kevin Stevens. There is a definite skills shortage in this area but without this equipment we could not run the course. With Toshiba’s help as our industry training partner we are looking forward to expanding it further.”

The new Toshiba air conditioning systems will be installed in purpose-built test suites by the first batch of students on the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning City and Guilds NVQ Level 2 Course. Service and maintenance courses will also be offered in the future.
