A boutique engineering and management consultancy in Harrogate has completed a major multi-million pound project with the world’s biggest retailing brand, Asda.

Tate Consulting, which delivered the project on behalf of developer Bericote Properties, has now finished work on the £38m Asda distribution centre in Grangemouth. The company has worked with Asda for five years advising the distribution team on how to meet its target to reduce carbon emissions by 20% by 2015, as well as delivering core consulting engineering services.

Tate Consulting is due to complete a similar distribution centre project in Rochdale later this year. The purpose-built 500,000sq ft distribution warehouse in Rochdale features a waste recycling centre and is considered a flagship building for the retail giant as one of the most environmentally sustainable developments of its kind in the UK.

Shane Tate, founder partner of Tate Consulting, said: “We’ve worked closely with Asda to reduce energy and water consumption by 30% and the sustainable solutions we’ve delivered saves thousands of pounds in energy costs as well as reducing carbon emissions.

“Our core consulting engineering services focus on maximising value and minimising the environmental impact, creating change that will lead to value creation for our customers. It’s our mission to make new and existing buildings as simple and as energy efficient as possible. We’re proud to be helping Asda achieve one of the most carbon efficient distribution buildings.”
