The task of producing new specifications for human-safe clean-agent fire protection systems, made necessary by the introduction of BS EN 15004 in place of ISO 14520 as the current British Standard, need be neither time consuming nor difficult if the latest version of the FP SpecWriter software package from Siemens Building Technologies, Fire Safety, is used.

All existing specifications written around ISO 14520 will now have to be updated in line with BS EN 15004, and all new specifications will have to take the requirements of the new standard into account. The changes are significant – for example, the part numbers used to identify each agent are changing, as is the agent concentration for some agents.

To ease the burden on specifiers, Siemens Fire Safety has comprehensively updated its FP SpecWriter software package, and the new version is now available for download, free-of-charge, from: www.buildingtechnologies.siemens.co.uk/FS_135_2/.

The new version of FP SpecWriter retains all of the speed, accuracy and ease of use of its predecessor, which has long been regarded as an invaluable and dependable aid for producing complete and technically correct specifications for clean agent installations.
