BSEE is joining forces with CEDIA (the Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association) to run Engineering Smart Home Networks; a conference consisting of free seminars which will help building services engineers, M&E consultants and contractors find out how electronic systems, including audio-visual, data, lighting control, security and HVAC can be successfully installed and integrated into significant residential schemes.

The Engineering Smart Home Networks conference will take place on the morning of Tuesday 15 June at ExCeL, London. It will form part of the Home Technology Event 2010 (formally known as the CEDIA Expo), the only annual trade show and education event in the UK dedicated to the design, installation and integration of home electronic systems.

The seminars will help provide an important introduction to the industry for building services engineers, as well as introducing CEDIA and the education and marketing support the Association provides. They will present a clear guide for engineers keen to specify multi-room audio-visual systems, cinemas, lighting control, security, HVAC and other home electronics technologies. The morning will also include a guided tour of the 100+ exhibitors who typically occupy the event’s show floor so engineers can familiarise themselves with the key brands and products.

Tracey Rushton-Thorpe, Editor of BSEE will Chair the seminars and help CEDIA devise the conference programme to ensure maximum relevance to building services contractors and consultants.

“CEDIA members are increasingly working with M&E consultants and contractors to design, install and integrate home electronic technologies on major residential developments” says Matt Nimmons, Operations Director at CEDIA. “This conference is a fantastic opportunity for the building services sector to find out more about our industry from those who know it best. It will help them appreciate the benefits of home technology integration, and understand how best to specify and design services which allow for the latest smart electronics. And, for those new to the sector, the visit to the show floor will also be invaluable introduction to the major manufacturers and distributors who work within it.”

Full details of the conference will be available soon in future issues of BSEE. For further details on the CEDIA Home Technology Event visit: www.cedia-expo.com.
