Riegens provide the missing link

Riegens Lighting has just fulfilled the brief to provide a safe, visually stunning and economically viable lit environment for the newly refurbished Bridgelink, at The NEC (National Exhibition Centre) in Birmingham.
The NEC is conveniently located next to Birmingham’s International Airport and Rail Station and can be accessed from the venue using the undercover Bridgelink. The NEC is the busiest exhibition centre in Europe, staging on average 175 exhibitions and events each year, and welcoming 4.5 million visitors. Every year the venue hosts a diverse programme of events from the National Wedding Show and BBC Clothes Show Live to Horse of the Year Show, Crufts and BBC Sports Personality of the Year.
A version of Riegens Cirrus direct/indirect luminaire was specified by The NEC, and modified for the project. The Cirrus KC range of direct/indirect, suspended luminaires from Riegens combines a specially developed optical system with extremely slim panels that offer decoration in addition to illumination. An innovative optical system, based on anti-glare microprism panels and revolutionary reflector technology, ensures optimum distribution of the direct/indirect light.
A combination of high output ratio and utilisation factor from the louvre optic, coupled with the use of T5 lamps and dimmable DALI controllable ballasts provide a high level of energy efficiency
The resulting hybrid Cirrus has been installed as two 107 metre continuous rows, through wired, and suspended from the existing suspension points, saving disruption to the ceiling. Each 1536mm, 2 x 54W T5 Cirrus is providing an even distribution of light to the floor, walls and ceiling, providing the required illumination and meeting the clients specification both technically and visually, with style and panache.
