TridonicAtco has supplied a wide selection of control products to Ridi Lighting to provide enhanced lighting control in the company’s new UK headquarters. Ridi will also be offering an integrated package of luminaires and TridonicAtco controls to its own customers where a high level of lighting is controlled.
“We wanted to be able to offer customers a one stop shop where they have a single point of contact for sourcing the complete lighting and controls package,” explained Ridi Managing Director Mike Attard. “We also wanted to be able to demonstrate the versatility of the system, so it made sense to install it in our own premises,” he continued.

Lighting in the open plan offices at RIDI’s offices is divided into zones, controlled through two DALI networks, one for each floor. Each network also incorporates DALI-MSensors with presence detection and daylight sensors. When lights are switched on they remain at low level until a person enters their zone, whereupon the lighting in that zone is ramped up to provide an illuminance of 400 lux for as long as the zone is occupied.

This system works in parallel with photocells which ensure the required illuminance is maintained while making optimum use of natural daylight and dimming the electric lighting when possible. Light levels for each zone can also be overridden by staff via their PCs. This is facilitated by the use of winDIM@net that enables the DALI system to be interfaced to the IP protocol used by the office network.

The DALI-MSensor can easily be configured by remote control, using the IR-SMART controller and the DALI-RC remote control.

The lighting can also be controlled via TridonicAtco’s new x-touchPANEL, a versatile and user-friendly control unit with clear symbols that enables the user to control the visual environment. All of the lighting is also linked back to a dedicated server running TridonicAtco’s winDIM@Net software, which allows access to individual luminaires for control and monitoring purposes.

Ridi’s James Callcut commented: “In sourcing the right controls company to work with, TridonicAtco was the obvious choice in terms of flexibility and the ability to offer a reliable and versatile system to our customers. The luminaire and controls package has already been specified for two large projects and we anticipate significant demand for this system”.
