Rehau has supplied the cable management solution for the Cat 6a wiring installation at the newly opened £86m MidKent College campus in Gillingham.
Rehau’s Profila data cable management system has been installed throughout the three buildings and two huge glass pavilions which make up the new campus providing further education for 14-19 year olds and adults throughout the Medway area.
Rehau was chosen for the project by M&E contractors Balfour Engineering Services, working on behalf of main contractors Kier on the basis of its proven track record in the education sector – with recent similar high profile installations carried out at Suffolk College, Burnley College and at BSF projects throughout the UK.
The durable and easy to fit trunking was installed in the vocational training areas for subjects as diverse as construction, animal care and hair and beauty and in classrooms, all of which have been wired for fast video-screening if required.
All of the trunking has been fitted with removable grey lids, specially extruded by Rehau at its North Wales plant, to comply with the requirements of Part M of the Building Regulations governing use by the visually impaired.
