Flexible lighting management
Published:  27 June, 2011

A Delmatic lighting management system has been installed at Fortnum & Mason, one of London’s most prestigious retail stores, during a recent £26m refurbishment project. To mark the beginning of its fourth century of trading, Fortnum & Mason embarked on a major refurbishment which was carried it out in phases so the store could continue to trade.

A Delmatic lighting management system was installed to provide flexible scene set switching and dimming of lighting throughout the six floors of retail areas, food outlets and restaurants. Sophisticated timing regimes suit the requirements of each retail department, and the system integrates with the specialist emergency lighting network. The complete network is managed and monitored through graphical head-end software which provides the flexibility to align the lighting control and moods to the needs of each area.

A key factor of the project management was to ensure that the customer experience was not affected and the Delmatic system enabled different areas to be lit according to changing needs without the need to change hard wiring. Throughout the project Delmatic liaised closely with other trades to co-ordinate the lighting control with planned power shut downs and other works.
