Trend increases options
Published:  12 January, 2011

Trend building energy management systems (BEMS) can now be easily integrated with a wide range of third-party devices and systems that are used for controlling and monitoring building services such as heating and air conditioning, lighting, security equipment and fire detection.

This has become possible with the launch of the Trend Open Network Node (TONN), a highly versatile and simple-to-engineer interface unit that enables the company’s BEMS to interoperate with single or multiple systems from other manufacturers. Setting up the unit does not require programming skills.

Every TONN unit provides unrestricted access to a Trend system driver and to the drivers for most of the open protocols that are used in building automation, including BACnet, LON, KNX, Modbus, M-Bus, SNMP and oBIX.

For an additional cost, drivers can also be supplied for any of eleven proprietary protocols, including those used by Protec fire panels, Helvar lighting controls and the Fidelio hotel booking system. It is planned that more will be developed.

A single TONN unit is able to route data between a Trend BEMS and several other devices or systems.
