WindowMaster wins praise
Published:  04 October, 2010

The headmistress of St Mary Magdalene’s School in Willesden in London has praised WindowMaster for its service care during and after the installation of the new school’s automated window control system.

The school was built in two phases in a contract worth £4.2 million funded by Westminster Roman Catholic Diocese and the DfES. The project included the phased construction of a replacement school within an occupied school environment to provide a new ‘three form’ entry junior school and the subsequent demolition of the existing school.

WindowMaster designed and installed its NV Advance window automation system at the school which was specified for the project by Halcrow Yolles and architects Curl LaTourelle because it provided a complete installation with a central computer control system. The installation includes 153 motors on 115 façade windows, 16 motors controlling 16 roof windows, various temperature sensors and a weather station.

St Mary Magdalene’s head teacher, Mary Carney, said: “The school had a number of teething troubles which occur on many new buildings. We were very impressed by WindowMaster’s competence and the ability to call and talk to its experts when we needed to. WindowMaster’s post-installation services have been very welcome.”

Ian Symmonds, Service Manager for WindowMaster, said: “The service agreement includes a test of each system element, along with a telephone support line to assist the facilities team should a problem occur at other times.”
