CIBSE welcomes Quality Assurance Managers
Published:  27 July, 2009

Two new Quality Assurance Managers have joined The Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) to ensure the quality of the certificates being lodged by CIBSE Low Carbon Energy Assessors (LCEAs) and further raise standards within the industry.

In their roles, Ying Chen and Henry Hubbard will ensure the way CIBSE LCEAs carry out their surveys, and their assessment is up to standard. This will be done either by visiting assessors onsite, in their offices, or by desktop study and looking over the procedures implemented and information used. Once they've carried out their audit, they'll issue a report to the assessors with comments, recommendations or additional requirements, to help them raise their quality further.

They are also keen to increase awareness on the quality requirements set out by CIBSE and the department for Communities and Local Government (CLG).  The CLG have a requirement that 2% of certificates be quality checked, but the new QAs aim to exceed this rate and see this as being the key to raising the quality across the board and ultimately helping CIBSE's Energy Assessors compete in the marketplace, by further raising their reputation.

CIBSE Low Carbon Energy Assessors are trained and accredited to produce Display Energy Certificates and Energy Performance Certificates, and to carry out inspections of complex air conditioning systems.
