Grundfos Pumps has been actively championing variable speed pumps for many years. The range of variable speed options has increased each year and although sales have continued to increase, their take-up, hasn't always lived up to the S to E (standard to electronic) programme goals they set for themselves.
2008 results however show a good increase in variable speed sales, especially in the commercial building sector, where 42% of the total sales value can be attributed to these energy efficient options, an increase of over 10% over the previous year.
With the recent introduction of EPCs (Energy Performance Certificates) for non domestic buildings there is bound to be an increasing emphasis on the initial design as well as on the refurbishment of energy saving equipment that will offer the best returns.
