Contractors can now use http://www.thornlighting.co.uk/ to quickly calculate the number of indoor luminaires needed to light a rectangular room. By selecting a luminaire from the website's product catalogue, and clicking on the CalcExpress tab, contractors can enter the room dimensions and then view the number of luminaires required and a proposed layout.
Once a contractor has determined the best result based on a default of a minimum of 500 lux, they can input other calculation parameters such as mounting height, height of the working plane, maintenance factor and the required level of illuminance. The programme instantly proposes a solution according to the light output ratio method.
Alternatively, contractors can check the illuminance of a room for a set number of desired luminaires.
Users can save the calculation results as a pdf download.
The programme can be accessed at www.thornlighting.co.uk/catalogue
