Simmtronic SPECS3 fully addressable lighting control systems are being installed, by mechanical and electrical contractors Haden Young, in the Cat.A fit-out of 150 Cheapside. This prominent 19000m2 corporate office development, by St Martins Property Corporation Ltd, overlooks St Pauls Cathedral in London.
The presence-based lighting control scheme, specified by consultants Hilson Moran, encompasses eight floors of offices and core areas. It is required to maximise energy savings and contribute to the building's excellent BREEAM rating.
In the commercial office areas the lighting controls are being installed to the DALI protocol with dimming functions. Perimeter rows are being fitted with universal heads for daylight linking to dim or switch off the lights in response to the natural light penetrating the building's full height glass facades.
In the core areas (lift lobbies etc) control is through hardwired switching circuits. Lighting in these common areas comprises both low energy high-efficiency compact fluorescent downlights and low voltage decorative feature lighting. The reception area is also hardwired but has additional DALI controls with dimming functions for scene-setting.
