Toshiba Corporation has announced that it will be a Tournament Sponsor of the Rugby World Cup 2007 to be held in France, Wales and Scotland this autumn.
As a result they will be running a number of promotions and competitions related to rugby in the run-up to the event. This support for sporting excellence follows a successful sponsorship of the FIFA World Cup by the company last year. “UK customers will be anticipating being able to watch the rugby with us, as they did the football,” said UK Commercial Director David MacRae.
Mr Takahiro Ishii, the President and CEO of Toshiba Europe Ltd, said: “Toshiba has always been a big supporter of rugby and we are extremely pleased to be associated with this exciting and prestigious event. The Rugby World Cup is a driving force in the game with a long and proud heritage and we are very honoured to be sponsoring an event which brings together countries from around the world.”
International Rugby Board Chairman, Dr Syd Millar, added: “The provision of electronics hardware is crucial to the successful delivery of a tournament the size of the Rugby World Cup and we are delighted that Toshiba, a world leader in the electronics field, has joined the impressive list of Tournament
Sponsors for Rugby World Cup 2007.”
