The installation of an innovative air ducting system from Kingspan Insulation is aiding rest and relaxation at Brunel University’s newly refurbished Student Union Building, and has made the student nightclub, Academy, the coolest hotspot on campus. KoolDuct, Kingspan Insulation’s pioneering pre-insulated ducting system, was installed as part of a £10 million upgrade of the Student Union Building, the hub of student activity at Brunel.
Leading ductwork contractor, Specialist Ductwork Systems Ltd, fabricated and installed the KoolDuct at Brunel. The company rates itself among the top three KoolDuct specialists and its Director, Kevin Sewell, says he knows the product inside and out. He said: “We were bang on time for the job without any delays. KoolDuct is absolutely fantastic to handle. It’s lightweight, easy to work with and easy to install. Kingspan is a really innovative company. They’re always looking for ways to make our job simpler, that’s why we like to work with their products.”
The KoolDuct System comprises rigid phenolic insulated panels with a proprietary jointing system. The reinforced aluminium foil on both sides of the panels makes the System very durable and also aesthetically pleasing in open to view applications
The refurbished student facilities at Brunel are part of a comprehensive development which has unified the University onto one campus for the first time in 25 years and includes a refectory complex with a stunning atrium entrance to bars, cafes and retail outlets.
