Viessmann has purchased Mawera, the leading Austrian manufacturer of biomass boilers and biomass powered CHP stations. Mawera, based in Hard, close to the German/Austrian border, employ 160 people and has a turnover of 30 million Euro. They specialise in the biomass market and have been awarded prizes for innovation by the Austrian and Bavarian state governments.
Their products cover the complete range of the biomass market including burners for logs, chip, pellet, wood waste and biomass. They also manufacture fuel preparation, storage and filling solutions.
Mawera will become the biomass centre of excellence for the Viessmann Group and will mean that the Group can offer a complete range of biomass boilers and other products from domestic sized 5kW through to small power station solutions up to 13MW.
Stewart Purchase, Managing Director of Viessmann UK commented: “Biomass is an important and growing option in the renewable energy tool kit and the acquisition of Mawera, a European technology leader, gives us the chance to offer a biomass solution in the UK, for applications from homes through to large commercial and public building complexes.”
The Viessmann Group now has more than 7,000 employees and a world-wide turnover of 1.3 billion Euro.
