The UK’s Leading TV Shopping Channel QVC has recently refurbished part of their studios at Marco Polo House in south west London, using the Kingspan KoolDuct System.
The work involved an extensive upgrade of the ground floor Control Room A, which was enlarged to accommodate the latest sophisticated transmission technology for the station’s backroom studio production staff and technicians.
A severe restriction on space in the ceiling void throughout the revamped control room complex was the main reason why M&E Consultants BHP Consulting Ltd chose the compact and advanced pre-insulated ducting technology of the Kingspan KoolDuct System.
David Barker, of BHP Consulting Ltd explained: “The lack of space in the ceiling void meant that the multi-zone air conditioning ductwork systems would not be adequately insulated and vapour sealed.
“This could only be ensured by using the Kingspan KoolDuct System. Conventional sheet metal ducting would have fitted too tightly to the soffit and the other ducting to then be covered with thermal insulation.”
Where traditional sheet metal ducting conveying conditioned air, needs to be vapour sealed and thermally insulated as a second operation, the lightweight but strong Kingspan KoolDuct System requires only a single fix installation. This not only provides a considerable space saving advantage, but also makes the System a high speed option for projects where time is critical.
