Priva lends a hand to DIY
Published:  20 April, 2006

Alpha Control Services has selected Priva control systems for two of its installations: Home Hardware in Barnstaple and at Homebase Wimbledon.

The existing control system for the Home Hardware offices had become obsolete and their contractor, AMS Ley, wanted to take advantage of the retrofit to upgrade the controls programs. The building environment is maintained via a variable temperature heating circuit which feeds the radiators. With the installation of the Priva Compri HX4 the office now benefits from frost protection, more flexible time programming including holiday scheduling and energy management programs.

Contractor, Pulse Services, was also seeking advanced control for the existing air handling units (AHU) serving the Homebase sales floor. The gas-fired AHUs, incorporating DX cooling, provide heating and cooling to the space. The Compri HX4 was selected for its powerful 32-bit microprocessor delivering impressive high processing speed and computing power. The controller has been designed to support a maximum of 92 inputs/outputs, which are universal and multi-functional for greater application flexibility.

The Compri HX4’s standard control strategies have been put to good use by reclaiming extract heating and cooling from the sales floor, thereby increasing efficiencies and reducing energy consumptions.
