Nu-way turns up the heat
Published:  21 December, 2005

Nu-way is helping Redditch Firefighters become hotter than ever by providing equipment for their special training programme.

An RGL 120 high/low gas burner was supplied, installed and tested by Nu-way for the station’s breathing apparatus training chamber. The equipment, producing, heat of 40°C, is coupled with special smoke generators within the chamber, for training in realistic yet safe fire simulations.

Nu-way says Hereford & Worcester Fire & Rescue Service initiated the project to upgrade the existing burner and improve efficiencies. The new model uses LPG fuel, gives lower Nox emissions and has adjustable flame tube projection with an output range of 13 – 288kW.

The appliance is manufactured to a high specification and is designed to give optimum combustion firing conditions with maximum efficiency. The compact modern design of the RGL120 allows for easy storage, and is CE approved to EN676.

Dave Bass, Managing Director at Nu-way said: “We are pleased the fire service selected our company to supply the fired heaters for their critical training purposes. We have a great working relationship with them and have worked on similar projects in the past.”

Nu-way has now begun work with Hereford Fire Station to design and install the same equipment for their training procedures.

Martin Lown, of the Equipment Support Group at Hereford & Worcester Fire & Rescue Service, said: “National training standards stipulate that firefighters must undertake at least two training scenarios a year in realistic heat and smoke fire simulations, so this equipment is imperative to us.”

He added: “We are really pleased with the service provided by Nu-way and look forward to working with them again on the Hereford Fire Station project.”
