Nominations are being sought for a number of industry awards managed by the HVCA.
The Alfred Manly Management Award celebrates the achievements of young engineers who have been judged capable of progressing to a senior management role within the building services engineering industry. Applicants must have achieved a Higher National Certificate (HNC) or Higher National Diploma (HND), or completed a degree in building services engineering, and must already be employed in a junior or middle management role. This award aims to assist winners in identifying their key management development needs and in achieving their full management potential.
Sponsored by the Happold Trust, the Happold Bursary is awarded annually to a craftsperson with a Level 3 National or Scottish Vocational Qualification
(NVQ/SVQ) and a minimum of three years' post-training experience in a HVACR related field, who is considered by his or her employer to be ready for a supervisory role.
The Adult Existing Worker of the Year Award has been established by the HVCA in recognition of the increasing number of experienced workers who have returned to study and so gained professional qualifications. It is open to individuals in all sector disciplines where an NVQ/SVQ has been - or is in the process of being - established.
Finally, the Professional Engineer of the Year Award has been created in memory of Ann Noblett, the long-serving member of the staff of the HVCA's Education and Training Department, who died in September. It is open to anyone who has completed an HNC, HND or degree course in building services engineering and is progressing towards membership of an appropriate chartered professional body, and will consist of training towards achievement of their professional status.
The deadline for nominations for all four awards is Monday 9 January 2006. Further information and nomination forms are available on the Association's website at www.hvca.org.uk.
