Lennox opens Air Conditioning University
Published:  02 June, 2005

Lennox has unveiled its innovative Air Conditioning University near Lyon in France. This state-of-the-art complex will give students access to a complete range of air conditioning equipment and will provide courses in product design, system specification, installation and servicing.

Trainees will be sent to the facility at the Lennox headquarters building in Mions from all over Europe to work alongside experienced design engineers. They will study the application of air conditioning systems from drawing board to final site-based commissioning.

The company has created a programme of both theoretical and practical modules to improve system application, but also address safety and energy efficiency issues. Subjects include operation and maintenance of systems; introduction to refrigeration technology and pointers on refrigerant handling; controls technology and the best methods of integrating and networking air conditioning systems; energy management and wider management elements such as supervision and communication.

“There is a growing appetite for in-depth technical training to meet the stringent demands of new and existing European legislation and to improve the skills base of engineers employed in our industry,” said Lennox UK Operations Director David Birtles. “This new facility will give our own engineers and those of our customers a significant competitive advantage because it is the only facility of its type able to provide hands-on training on such a wide range of equipment.”
