Kingspan Insulation's revolutionary KoolDuct zero ODP System of pre-insulated ducting technology has provided the ideal high-speed solution for a new Midlands printing press being built for newspaper publishing giants Trinity Mirror.
The £60 million state-of-theart complex at Fort Dunlop in Birmingham will print all of the Group's local and regional titles, including the Birmingham Evening Mail, Birmingham Post, Sunday Mercury and Coventry Evening Telegraph.
A total of 3,500 m sq of the Kingspan KoolDuct zero ODP System has been installed throughout the three storey building and plant room by Ductform UK Ltd. who worked closely with mechanical contractors NG Bailey & Co. The need for a speedy installation of the ducting was met by the fast track Kingspan KoolDuct zero ODP single fix system which, unlike traditional sheet metal ducting, does not need to be lagged with insulation as a second operation.
A further advantage was the fact that scaffolding could be dismantled immediately after each stage of the installation rather than remain in place for the lagging process. The prompt dismantling of scaffolding removed obstructions for other contractors on site and was also cost efficient.
As part of Kingspan Insulation's commitment to combine product innovation with social responsibility Kingspan KoolDuct has zero Ozone Depletion Potential (zero ODP) as standard, being fabricated from CFC/HCFC-free rigid phenolic insulation panels. The panels are faced with reinforced aluminium foil on both sides making Kingspan KoolDuct zero ODP very durable and also aesthetically pleasing when used in open to view applications.
The System's low level of air leakage and superior insulating properties can result in electrical consumption savings. With the Kingspan KoolDuct zero ODP System, ventilation air flows over aluminium surfaces and does not have contact with any material containing loose fibres, making it ideal for high specification projects.
