New from Aico Ltd is the Firecap Duct Wrap Sleeve, a simple, economical and convenient way to restore the fire integrity of walls, floors and ceilings where they have been breached by PVC vent ducting.
In the event of fire, the material swells to over three times its original size and crushes the duct completely. This seals it and prevents flames or smoke from being able to pass through.
The Universal sleeve can be used on all common sizes of PVC rectangular ducting. Each comes complete with a self adhesive strip designed to hold the sleeve around the duct during fitting. The wall can then be made good around the wrap using a non-combustible filler, such as cement mortar. Two sleeves can be used to ensure complete protection on larger ducting with the smallest dimension over 54mm, but below 90mm.
Fitting, which can be completed in a matter of seconds, can take place during the installation of the duct, or retrofitted, wherever existing ducting has created a fire hazard.
