A £15.5m water front regeneration project in the Tees Valley is getting off to a swimming start thanks to the involvement of White Young Green.
The company, which was awarded the commission by Chilli Developments, is to provide mechanical and electrical(M&E)engineering support for part of Middlehaven,a proposed multi-phase regeneration development. The services provided by the company will include heating and ventilation, electrical power and distribution, lighting and protection systems,as well as comfort cooling statutory supplies.
Andy Briggs, the Associate Director at White Young Green who is overseeing the project said:“We are delighted to be working with Chilli Developments on this landmark project. We have made substantial use of our Integrated Environmental Solutions(IES) software on this project,as well as 3D modelling. These tools allow us to provide reliable performance information to the design team - helping to mould the building and provide the optimum form and environment.”
The building, which will be narrow and curved, with column-like core blocks,is designed to have a translucent look, created by grid depth and the use of carefully selected glazing. It will house both single and duplex apartments,as well as office, retail and leisure units. Simon Brown at Chilli Developments said:“We want to create an innovative landmark building which is also environmentally sound. White Young Green has been instrumental in ensuring that, where possible, sustainable design methods are to be implemented.
“We are very pleased with White Young Green's systems design strategy and I am confident that this building will stand out amongst the Tees Valley skyline.”
