Mapress enhances the performance of its pressfitting pipe-jointing system
Published:  15 March, 2003

The fitting effectiveness and reliability of Mapress stainless-steel, carbon-steel and copper pressfittings have been significantly improved by a patented profiled O range. The new sealing ring differs from the norm in that its internal diameter is increased by 0.2 mm at three equidistant points on the circumference. The Mapress system is marketed in the UK by Pressfitting.

This new sealing ring provides a simple means of detecting unpressed fittings during pressure testing, since an uncompleted joint will allow a small amount of water to escape. By providing a leakage path in this way, compared with increasing the ring’s internal diameter, the pre-load period during the pressing of the joint is reduced.

There is an obvious need for the industry to be more energy efficient and pay more attention to the ways in which energy is both used and wasted. Do you think we have the products on the market to meet our needs?
