Energy under control
There is increasing pressure on building managers to reduce energy use. Legislation in the form of Energy Performance Certificates and Display Energy Certificates is making building owners and occupants more aware of their energy consumption than ever before. Perhaps even more important is the rising cost of energy in an increasingly uncertain economic climate. Managers in the private and public sectors are on the lookout for any ways to reduce operational costs.
The BCIA believes that building controls offer a highly cost-effective solution to these challenges and therefore the BCIA's 2009 Conference will help delegates identify practical ways in which building controls can help measure and manage energy use.
This year's conference is aimed at end-users: energy managers and facilities managers, who have responsibility for tracking and reducing energy use in one or more buildings. Whether you are looking to install a new building management system, or looking to identify ways to use existing controls more effectively, the BCIA Conference will help you get your energy under control.
Our speakers are experts from the UK's leading suppliers, as well as facilities and estates managers with experience of dealing with these issues. They will be speaking about their experiences and offering practical solutions which delegates can use to help them in the day-to-day management of energy.
The programme
The conference will be introduced by Iain Murray, President of British Institute of Facilities Managers and Doug Robins, President of the BCIA. This will be followed by Jeff Whittington, Business Solutions Director for British Gas Business who will examine the energy services market as well as examining building controls and energy services.
Lisa Wilkinson, Director of t-mac technologies and Lee Jones, Energy and Controls Director for Integral UK Facilities Management will follow on with a practical look at opportunities for saving energy in buildings, identifying new technologies on the market and how they are being applied by building managers to help reduce energy costs.
Over lunch you can expect a lively round table debate which will focus on questions and key points which will form the afternoon panel discussion and Q&A session with speakers.
The afternoon session will start with Mark O'Dowd -Booth, Head of Energy Services at Honeywell followed by Mike Malina from Energy Solutions Associates who will concentrate on quick wins for saving energy. Mike has spent many years examining building energy use, and has some top tips for quick-wins on the energy saving front.
