Members show support
Published:  24 April, 2008

Following a member consultation exercise, the HVCA Council has pledged its support to the development of a model of a single organisation to represent mechanical and electrical contractors - brought about by the convergence of the HVCA and the Electrical Contractors' Association (ECA).

During the consultation, the members of both associations were urged to record their views on two key issues.

Firstly, they were asked to offer their support for the concept of convergence ie, the creation of a single organisation to represent mechanical and electrical contractors.

Secondly, they were invited to support the formation - jointly by ECA and HVCA - of a group that would examine the views so far expressed by members and produce a model for a single organisation upon which the ECA and HVCA memberships could, in the fullness of time, be consulted.

The outcome of the survey - which was undertaken by independent research consultancy Metra Martech Ltd - has revealed that 81% of HVCA respondents (representing 20% of the membership) believe that convergence would be broadly beneficial, while 84% support the formation of a joint ECA/HVCA convergence group.
