Energy efficiency from Philips
Published:  21 November, 2007

Royal Philips Electronics has introduced a new compact fluorescent lighting system which only requires up to half the energy to produce a given amount of light. The MASTER PL-R Eco is also characterised by fast return on investment, simple installation and greater robustness. In addition the new system will also indirectly save a significant amount of CO2 and contribute to reducing the increase in greenhouse gasses.

A new design of both lamp and ballast, with special attention paid to optimising the interaction between the two, has resulted in much-improved efficacy. This in turn means lower amounts of electricity are required to generate the same amount of light. MASTER PL-R Eco uses 25% less energy than comparable PL-C/T-based high-frequency compact fluorescent systems and 50% less than PL-C/T-based electromagnetic compact fluorescent systems.

Yet this lower energy consumption has no influence whatsoever on the lighting quality. The MASTER PL-R Eco would typically be used in offices, public buildings and hospitals, as well as in retail applications like supermarkets for creating a pleasant shopping ambience. It should be of particular interest to those who are looking for a rapid return on their lighting investments.
