Searchlight Electric Limited acquires Illuma Lighting
Published:  20 December, 2006

Searchlight Electric Limited has acquired certain assets, stock, intellectual property and goodwill of Leicestershire based lighting manufacturer Illuma Lighting Limited including both the Illuma and Dot commercial lighting brands.

Illuma Lighting will continue to operate as an autonomous business unit with its own management structure, product development and sales team. All 42 employees at Illuma’s Head Office in Shepshed have been retained by the company.

The acquisition, which was completed on Friday 24 November, complements Searchlight’s existing range of decorative lighting products which is distributed via high street multiples and over 750 independent specialist lighting retailers.

Illuma Lighting, a leading supplier of architectural lighting, supplies to the electrical contracting market through a national network of electrical wholesalers.

“We have been looking at opportunities within the commercial lighting market for some time and Illuma is a highly respected brand within the sector,” said Searchlight Managing Director David Joyce.

“With our investment, brand management and operational expertise, coupled with Illuma’s technical know-how and market knowledge, we aim to reinforce and build the brand’s dominant position in the commercial lighting market over the next few years.

“Our initial focus will be upon re-establishing the brand’s core values of product superiority, quality and customer service and we will be making immediate and significant investments in stock availability, supply chain efficiency and new product development.”
