Are you prepared for evacuation?
Published:  21 December, 2005

With recent acts of terrorism and natural disasters, plans for evacuating buildings should be at the forefront of our minds. Companies and organisations now need to make provisions for everyone to escape, including the mobility impaired.

Evac+Chair is a pioneering product in its field and offers a simple, safe and cost effective solution. The chair uses continuous rotating v-belts to provide a controlled descent down stairways, enabling a single user to evacuate a person with mobility difficulties, without the need for lifting or altering the fabric of the building. For ‘intelligent buildings’ such as the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Evac+Chair would have been invaluable when some 5000 personnel took over one and a half hours to evacuate after a bomb hoax on Friday 13 September 2001.

Not only is the Evac+Chair important for escaping those buildings directly affected by the event, but also for escaping surrounding buildings that may have been indirectly affected through power failure for instance.
